Land surveyor, Roger Roberts, will present the lecture “Discovering Abandoned Cemeteries: Locating unmarked graves” on Wednesday, January 2 at the Medford Library, 205 South Central Avenue, and Wednesday, January 9 at the Ashland Library, 410 Siskiyou Boulevard from 12 noon–1:00 p.m. at both locations.
Roberts will report on the progress the Rogue Valley Genealogy Society cemetery committee has made in locating abandoned burial sites since the first report in 2012. The committee, consisting of Roberts, Chuck Eccleston, and Ron Brown, has located and mapped hundreds of unmarked graves. The method of locating an unmarked grave will be demonstrated during Roberts’ lecture.
Roberts is a land surveyor and the retired Jackson County Surveyor. He has been involved with the Rogue Valley Genealogy Society since 2008. He and wife Nancy live in Central Point.
