Wooden French Sabot Shoes

These painted wooden shoes are a simple work shoe, shaped and hollowed out from a single block of wood, traditionally worn by French and Breton peasants. There is a decorative vine carved on the tops and a hole in the bottom of one indicates the amount of wear. Most Sabot were used as firewood when they wore out meaning it is rare for older ones to survive.
