Guest speaker Ben Truwe, Author, Historian, and Curator of the massive “Southern Oregon History, Revised” website, presents “The Rogue RiverWars: New Perspectives.”

The story of the Rogue River Indian wars is usually viewed through a haze of Hollywood mythmaking. A careful reading of contemporary documents, however, reveals a more human story of rumor, panic, and vengeance. This talk by Ben Truwe will focus on events of the years 1850 through 1855, when cultures clashed in Jackson County.

Medford resident Ben Truwe, author of the Looking Back Jackson County history books and curator of the massive Southern Oregon History, Revised website, has spent the last ten years tracking down, transcribing, and annotating source documents from the 1850s and making them easily available online.
