Why should I come?
SOHS has had an eventful year! We expanded our Library hours, adopted a new logo following an international logo competition, revamped our website to reflect the new SOHS, provided both live and virtual access to our resources and programs, hosted numerous events at SOHS Hanley Farm, and raised 75% of the monies needed to convert the central part of our downtown Medford History Center into a much needed regional event center. Whew!
And that’s just the beginning! SOHS is on a roll with even more exciting things happening in 2023. Annual Meeting attendees will be among the first to preview what’s coming!
You will “meet” some of the incredible pioneer women who settled Southern Oregon including: Josephine Martin Plymale, a 19th Century suffragette; Alice Applegate Sargent, daughter of famed pioneer, Jesse Applegate, who led her own life of adventure; Artenicia Riddle Meriman, an 85-year-old “moving picture star”; and Helen Carpenter, whose IBM fortune helped create the Carpenter Foundation.
And you’ll enjoy a hosted bar and delicious hors d’oeuvres catered by SOHS Gold Diggers.
So come honor our “foremothers” and join us in recognizing the individuals and organizations who are aiding our mission of bringing history to life and sharing it with our community!
