Connecting Across Landscapes with Katie Johnson

Archaeologist Katie Johnson will examine excavations at the Jacksonville Chinese Quarter Site. They resulted in the recovery of over 50 pounds of animal bones. These bones represent mealtimes, home cooking, adaptation and innovation of Oregon Chinese Americans in late nineteenth century.
Katie Johnson is a staff archaeologist at the Southern Oregon University Laboratory of Anthropology, where she has been working in the Rogue Valley for more than a decade. Katie is currently pursuing her Masters in anthropology with a focus in zooarchaeology. She specializes in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), cartography, zooarchaeology, and cultural resource management.
