Scarecrow Festival at SOHS Hanley Farm

October 1 @ 11:00 am - October 2 @ 3:00 pm

$15 – $20

Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2, 2022

11:00 am – 3:00 pm

Join us for the 11th Annual SOHS Hanley Farm Scarecrow Festival on October 1st and 2nd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at Hanley Farm (1053 Hanley Road between Central Point and Jacksonville.)

Here is your chance to take part in the age-old farm ritual of making scarecrows and putting them in a field of ripening crops to scare away the birds.

All the materials are provided – frame, straw, clothes, accessories, heads to draw on and directions. The cost for all materials (and advice if needed) is $20 or, if you are an SOHS member, $15. Scarecrows may be put in the field for People’s Choice judging and taken home later, or may be taken home right away. Any scarecrows that are left will be deconstructed and materials recycled.

Also look for other activities, especially for children, and learn of the importance of 4H in Jackson County today. There will be a photo opportunity area with scarecrows.

See you at the farm on October 1st and/or 2nd for a family-friendly, fun-filled day!

SOHS cares about your health and that of its volunteers – Covid safety protocols will be observed.
