SOHS Historical Comic Strip Contest – Submission Deadline

Become a story maker of Southern Oregon’s history!
Our Historical Comic Strip Contest is currently open, and entries are due by April 22nd.
Usually when we learn about our past it’s through history books, museums and other curated collections. Someone somewhere has made the choice of what to include, and what to leave out. Which means that, in Southern Oregon, along with most other places in this country, the stories of minorities, marginalized communities and even the “Average Joe” are not told and shared. We have a chance to become the story makers now, and we want to share everyone’s story.
Create a comic strip style comic that shares a story of Southern Oregonian grit, an underdog tale, a hero’s triumph, a dastardly foe’s demise.
Comic strips should be based on a true story or a tall tale from around the Southern Oregon area. They can be something that’s already in the history books, or a story that you think should be!
There are three age categories:
12 years old & under
13 to 18 years old
19 years old and up
We are awarding cash prizes for each category: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. So there will be 9 cash prizes in total!
The winner will be announced at our booth at the Rogue Comic Con on May 4th in Pear Blossom Park in Medford.
