Windows in Time — Ashland’s Lithia Park Fountain: 500 Years of History

July 2 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

With little-known stories and 40 images, Ashland historian Peter Finkle will share the incredible backstory of Ashland’s 1916 Butler-Perozzi Fountain in Lithia Park. Join us to discover how our humble Lithia Park fountain’s tale includes European royalty, a 500-year-old Palazzo in Florence, Italy, an early 1900s Ashland creamery and much more.

Peter Finkle shares Ashland secrets even locals don’t know about the city’s history, art, and neighborhoods through walking tours, community talks and the WalkAshland.com website. An Ashland resident since 1991, Peter writes for Ashland.news and other publications.

The monthly Windows in Time lunchtime lectures feature well-known writers and historians and bring alive the people, values, and events that shaped our southern Oregon heritage. Lectures are jointly sponsored by the Southern Oregon Historical Society (SOHS) and Jackson County Library Services. Programs are presented in Medford (first Wednesdays, in-person and online) and again in Ashland (second Wednesdays, in-person). Registration is only required to attend the Zoom version of Medford’s program. Recordings of Medford presentations are available on the JCLS Beyond YouTube channel.
