School Spirit and Sports

School pride and school spirit have always been an important part of education. School spirit and team spirit in athletics and in other extracurricular school activities signaled to the wider community that youth were preparing for adulthood through their participation in organized activities. School colors became a source of pride along with a variety of material goods bearing the school name or insignia.
