The Tenth Annual SOHS Hanley Farm Scarecrow Festival will be October 2 and 3 from 11am to 4pm at Hanley Farm, 1053 Hanley Road between Central Point and Jacksonville. Everything you need to build an authentic, straw-filled scarecrow, fit to scare the crows away from your grain crop, or entertain the neighborhood, will be at the farm. Admission is free. A complete Scarecrow Kit costs $15 unless you are an SOHS member, then it is only $10. There will also be complete “hanger scarecrow” kits available without the mess of straw for $10.
Date:Saturday, October 2, 2021 - 11:00am to Sunday, October 3, 2021 - 4:00pm
Enter your scarecrow in the People’s Choice contest or take it home right away. Contest award winners will be featured on the SOHS website and social media pages and scarecrow photos will be part of a press package. There will be categories for scarecrows: 'made at the farm', 'business scarecrows' and 'retirement residence' scarecrows. There is also a director’s award for a special scarecrow of merit.
Other activities will include children’s games and activities and maybe a free hayride.
All participants will be expected to wear masks and work stations will be far apart. Scarecrow kits including straw can be purchased at the farm and made at home. SOHS cares about your health and that of its volunteers, so please be careful.
See you at the farm October 2 and/or 3, for a fun day.
